A grave miscarriage of justice has occurred; we need your help to free Sukhdave and Bachan Athwal. Both were wrongly convicted of murdering Surjit Athwal in 2007 based on circumstantial and hearsay evidence. The police have been overly aggressive in securing this conviction, abusing their power to put an innocent grandmother and father in prison. The police have bowed down to political pressure to close this at any cost, regardless of the lack of evidence. The police have cited this case as an 'honour killing', this could not be further from the truth. Honour killings are a horrendous crime and need due attention from the police. However, it is not fair for the police to bracket every Asian missing person or murder case as an 'honour killing' to guarantee an easy conviction. We urge you to support our campaign and review this case so that this miscarriage of justice can be cleared and a genuine, objective investigation can start to find out what really happened to Surjit.
